Each year more and more people are becoming aware of the fact that they have been sold a Payment Protection Insurance policy without ever having been aware of it at the time. Since most of us aren’t financial gurus it is often next to impossible to understand all those itemized charges on our monthly bills. If you are wondering whether or not any of your lenders have mis sold PPI cover to you then the first place you should look is on your monthly statement. It should be clearly listed as PPI, Payment Protection Insurance or perhaps just insurance, but it should be on your bill. If you never knew that you were paying for it in the first place then there is every possiblility that you weren’t given the option to refuse cover!
If you cannot find any reference to PPI or Payment Protection on your bill then take a few moments to review your original loan documents. The law requires any payments you are making to be fully explained to you in terms you can understand before you sign on the dotted line. Once you find that you are making payments that you never authorized it’s time to set about filing a PPI claim to recover money which should have never been billed to you.
